More World Down Syndrome Day Fun! A Giveaway and Artemur | Reece's Rainbow

A Giveaway For You!

My warrior family momma, Erin Foerch, has a giveaway going on right now in honor of World Down Syndrome Day. She has two daughters, adopted last year from China, and has some really great blogs going on, too! Check out the giveaway and don't forget to browse her blog while you're at it! She has purchased all the items in the giveaway from other families adopting children with Down Syndrome, so another point for her, and for you when you enter!

Orphan Spotlight

I thought for World Down Syndrome Day I would also share a child with Down Syndrome who is waiting on a family to love and cherish them.

Meet: Artemur!

Artemur was born in 2002 and has Down Syndrome, atrial septal defect, and polydactyly of the left hand. Despite being 14, he really is not much bigger than a preschooler. He likes to act out, but reacts really well to positive attention. He needs a mommy and a daddy to love him and give him time and attention. At least for now, it would be good if he were an only child because he needs a parent to teach him how to interact with others properly. He is a charmer though, I hear, and would make a great son for someone who is dedicated, patient, and loving. He has a grant available that totals $12,752.57 that can be applied to his adoption fees, which would really drastically help a family be able to afford adopting him! Click his name above to go to his profile. There you can donate to his grant, share his link to help find his family, or find out more on how to adopt him!

So here is this spunky sweet thing:

Why I am in 2 Different Socks Today!

Today I am in two different socks
To some of you it will be no shock
It really is symbolic, you see
of only a slight difference between you and me.

Some have 3 strands of the 21st chromosome
Some drive nice cars and live in a really nice home
Some are big and some are small
But sure enough, God loves us all!

Sure, some look and learn differently
But there's way more similarity
You see my two socks appear to be different, like a mismatched pair
But they're both still socks and keep my feet warm, so I don't care

So in honor of 3/21 - World Down Syndrome Day
I am simply here to say,
Everyone is different in their own little way.
So that's why I am in 2 different socks today.

Down Syndrome Rocks
and so do my socks!

Family Spotlight: The Valenzuela Family | Reece's Rainbow

Robinson and Marcy Valenzuela are my second family that I warrior for at present time. They are adopting precious little "Scarlett" from Eastern Europe. Shortly after the couple was married, they became pregnant with a little boy. His name was Armando. He was born with Down Syndrome and many complex heart issues. He only lived 3 short hours. The couple was dramatically changed forever. After several miscarriages, the couple became pregnant again, this time with a little girl. The girl, Ari, looked just like her brother Armando and was born with that extra 21st chromosome, just like him as well. A couple years down the line, they found Scarlett, who they are naming Sofia. They didn't know how it would be possible to adopt without the funds, but the couple trusted that God would provide if God led them there, so they jumped in with both feet. They have had another bouncing baby boy while going through the process of adoption. They are just about 2.5 months away from traveling to pick up sweet Sofia, and I couldn't be more excited! Sofia and Ari are similar in ages and I cannot wait to see this duo together!! They are having a drawing and a fundraiser for shoes for the kiddos in Sofia's orphanage coming very soon, and I'll share that, probably in the fundraiser spotlight next week. I would like you to meet:

Charlene

Charlene was born in 2003 with Down Syndrome. She's described as "quiet, polite, and likes to be tidy." She's in foster care in Asia and is doing well. She is helpful, cooperative, and well loved. She can communicate and loves to dance. Charlene needs to find a family soon, as she ages out next July. Please share this sweet girl, so that her family may spot her. If you'd like to do more, you can pray for her. If you'd still like to do more, you can donate to her grant on Reece's Rainbow. Still not satisfied? Want to adopt her? Follow the information on her grant profile, which can be found by clicking right here. Thank you for taking the time to get to know sweet Charlene!

In Other News: 21 Days of Hope | Reece's Rainbow

21 Days of Hope is Reece's Rainbow's biggest fundraiser for the Voice of Hope Fund. If you've forgotten what that fund is or haven't read my "Ways You Can Help" blog post, it is the base fund that keeps Reece's Rainbow (RR for short) up and running. They are trying to raise $1,000 a day, starting yesterday, March 1st, for 21 days. Some generous donor will match that money for a child's grant. That means for every $1,000 we donate together to RR, someone donates $1,000 to benefit a child's grant. So in 21 days, the goal is $21,000 for the Voice of Hope Fund and $21,000 for 21 designated waiting children. To read more about it, and to donate, click right here, or click the button on my side bar over there. --> Thank you for any and all help!
